My Road to Recovery from Back Surgery

When I moved to Arizona, my back was in such bad shape and I was in so much pain that I was hardly able to get up to walk around the house.

Thankfully, I found the Desert Institute for Spine Care, or DISC. In this video testimonial, I describe the process, my road to recovery, and the amazing outcome I’ve experienced thanks to the procedure I underwent.

Below, you can watch my testimonial or read the text of my statement, or even take a look at the advertisement I was featured in for the practice.

We had come out to visit our daughter and we found a house we wanted to buy, we went back to Maryland and started to pack up our house, and I injured my back. I went to see a doctor local to where we lived, who quickly diagnosed me as having totally lost a disc. He was not encouraging in even getting a surgical outcome for me. I was in extraordinary pain. I was essentially crippled, bed-ridden for four months.

I had brought with me a CD of my MRI examination. Dr. Field put it in his computer and started to run through it and he said OK, “I see you have no disc here, double stenosis, uh-huh, uh-huh, I know exactly what we need to do to fix you right up.”

The big thing for me was they get you out of bed within a few hours of the procedure. With the assistance of one of the nurses I was able to walk around the hallway in the hospital which was a big change. They explained what the nature of the recovery was, and how important it was for me to get up and be active.

It was an aggressive program and I was able to meet it, and gradually worked back to a point where I consider myself to be in the best physical condition of my life. I’ve been more physically engaged in the last six to eight months than I ever have been.

DISC gave me my life back.
